After about three weeks of the Barton Creek Outpost life we took a mini-vacation to Guatemala, where we visited the Mayan ruins of Tikal National Park and the quaint city of Flores, which sits on a small island in Lago Peten Itza. We said goodbye to Belize the next morning, crossing the land border into Mexico on our way to Isla Mujeres and, after a few days there, back home to the United States. Check out my Isla Mujeres blog for the last chapter of our 2012 adventure in Mesoamerica.
