The Ice Age Trail is a 1,200-mile long designated National Scenic Trail located wholly within Wisconsin. The trail approximately traces the boundary of the glacier that existed here ~12,000 years ago, winding through 30 counties from the St Croix River on the Minnesota border to Potawatomi State Park in the town of Sturgeon Bay in Door County.
As of December 31, 2023 I have covered 25.2 unique miles of the Ice Age Trail (2.1% of the total 1,200 IAT miles). The map above highlights (in blue) sections of trail that I have completed so far.
This page will be updated as I complete new sections of the Ice Age Trail (IAT). Each section I’ve completed is posted below, arranged from west to east along the trail, regardless of the chronological order or direction in which I ran the section. Some sections were covered westbound, some eastbound, in both directions as solo out-and-backs, or as part of loops that contained a mix of IAT and non-IAT trail or road. Strava activity maps are included as proof of completion for each section, along with the date of completion, trail mile markers of the start and end points, the people I ran with, and photos. All IAT miles claimed were official IAT miles at the time that I covered the section (trails this long are rerouted for various reasons over time, so actual routes and distances are subject to evolve).
